Homecoming King and other unrelated topics

Danny is coming home! That's right, readers. My little bro will be coming home from Iraq soon, sooner than I had originally thought too. For those that know him and want to be there for the mega huge box social, keep in touch with me.

I checked out the AHL All-Star Game the other night. That was a blast. The shining star during the february lull in sports was being able to turn on ESPN and watch a hockey game between commercials of Friends reruns. Even up in Chicago I would hit up one or two games a year. But this my friends is ridiculous. I hate to envoke the can't we all just get along speech. But seriously. I can understand players wanting more money and not refusing when owners offer to pay it. And yes, the owners made some mistakes with over expansion the first time, when the original six grew. But as a former b-school student, numbers always win out. I'm sure it's not all on the owners' shoulders either. How long did Sergei Federov sit out one year before getting the contract he wanted? The bottom line is this: right now, every member of the NHLPA is unemployed. Not to mention the pickup line "I play in the NHL" has lost all of it's luster. If the players really love to play hockey for a living, they might want to agree to this. If you think about it, $42.5 million is better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Until then, go Barracudas!
